Make-Up Hoarder Intervention

I grew up with a very strict dad. When I hit my teenage years all I wanted was to wear a little lip gloss and mascara and when I ask for it I got the longest lecture from my dad telling me that money doesn't grow on trees. He told me that as soon as I was able to pay for it I can wear it. So, the day after my 16th birthday I got a job and guess what I did with my $200 paycheck!? I bought make up!! Ever since I've loved it and I'll be honest I was horrible at putting it on. I still remember when I discovered liquid eyeliner. I went into work thinking I was the hottest 17 year old in town because I had it on. Well, my sweet co-worker took one look at me an yelled, who let a raccoon in!! I was so embarrassed and thankful for her brutal honesty. Needless to say I didn't wear liquid eyeliner for years.

Fast forward to today, I have average make up skills and I love wearing it. For 2014 I want to simplify my life and get rid of any clutter. Well, today I saw all my make up on my counter and thought to myself, if anybody sees this they'll think I'm a make up hoarder!

Every time I go out this happens. Everything that I own makes it's way to my counter and I'm faced with the reality that I DO NOT need this much make up. I always justify it by saying, it's good to have options. Well, I'm not a make up artist so I don't need all these options!

I decided to tackle this beautiful mess and get rid of make up that I don't use. It was very very very hard!! Harder than I thought, which made me realize that I need to stop putting so much value on these things. Why was it so hard getting rid of this stuff? I don't know and to be honest I don't ever want to get to this point again.

I wonder what my dad would say if he saw this!? Quick story, on the weekends he'd work on our lawn and he'll call me and ask me if he could put my powder on!! He said that if I stood still he would use the leaf blower to blow dirt on my face and taaa daa, all done! I would get so mad at him when he said that, but I smile and cry a little every time I remember that because even though he hated make up he kept his word and allowed me to wear it since I was paying for it. He always said I didn't need it and he was right, but like many teenage girls I wanted to feel older and make up was the cool thing to have and wear. Parents are always right!!

Anyway, back to this mess.

Much better! Although it was hard getting rid of some of it, I'm so happy to have just what I need. I will not stop buying makeup because I'm a girly girl and it makes me happy, I can only have whatever fits in this container though. I'm happy to say that my hoarding days are over!

Thank you for taking the time to read my shenanigans. I hope you have a fantastic rest of the week!!

It's ok, It's only a Dollar!

Who doesn't love the Dollar Store!? I can spend hours and spend lots of DOLLARS there too.Today I went in with a mission, to find a window squeegee for my car windows. That's it, I went in for one thing only and the curse of the Dollar Store got a hold of me. Well here's what I came out with.

List of crazy random things that I DO NOT need:

Giant Glasses
Nail Stickers
Bag of punch balloons
Crystal Light
Purple eyeshadow
Glittery headbands

The glitter head bands, Milani baked eyeshadow and the L'oreal nail stickers were my favorite finds. I should stop these random hauls though, I hear that's how hoarding begins!

Hope you have a great week!
